Mommy

Brainstorm ideas
Think out of the box
Push yourself to be your best
Be caring, be kind
Be helpful and thoughtful
And put your heart to the test
Take care of yourself
Take care of others
Take care of the things you share
Take of care of your body
Take care of your clothes
Take care of your toenails and hair
I know this poem
Doesn’t have much to do
With the Emily that you know
But that just proves
If you only check the surface
How much doesn’t show
Because my Mommy tells me these things
And her mommy told her them too
But now, Mommy, you do these things
Because you’re perfect just being you.
I love you more
Then I can say
In a couple of words on a page
So I’ll just say three, and here they are:
Mommy, Happy Birthday.
