About Me

My name is Kiley Smith. I am a very passionate writer, and this blog is where I post my poems, stories, reviews, and riddles. I started this website when I was in third grade, and have maintained it ever since.

A couple years ago, I published my first book with Teacher Created Materials, titled Young Adult Literature: Dystopian Worlds. I am thrilled to have a book with my name on the cover, and I am very proud of the words inside. In the years since, I took a course in creative writing and even had the privilege of proofreading a book for the Newberry Award winner Kwame Alexander.

But writing is not my only hobby. I also play basketball and partake in my school’s law club. Though basketball comes in close second, Law Club is probably my favorite extracurricular because it reminds me how much I want to become a lawyer. Law especially interests me in an era where human rights are being so widely  I also sing in choir, and over the years I’ve attended All County, All District, and All State honor choirs.

In my free time, I love to read and watch TV. I’m also a Marvel geek, a Disney fan, Broadway-crazy, and I adore Harry Potter.

I will continue to read, write, until I’m old and gray, and hopefully someday I’ll write words fit for a real courtroom. Until then, I’ll continue to read anything I can get my hands on—as Thomas Jefferson once said, “I cannot live without books.”

Hello Kiley,
Your poetry is pretty amazing. There’s lots of wisdom there. I especially loved MAKING SOMEONE LAUGH and BEAUTIFUL STRANGENESS. Looking forward to seeing your work all over the place – in bookstores and libraries!!
Thanks for sharing,
Karen Frandsen

Thank you Ms. Karen! I really appreciate this comment. I hope to see your work in bookstores as well! (My mom showed me your artwork! It’s adorable.)
Thanks again!

Hello! I found your blog through one of your posts on TCM. It was the post on ideas for using Hamilton in the classroom. I’m so glad I decided to stop by! 🙂 Is there a way to follow your blog by email? I can’t seem to find the option to do so (maybe by commenting, it will now automatically inform me of new posts). Either way, thank you for being such an inspiration! 🙂

Hi! Thank you so much for your kind words! It seems like under the comment box, after you put in your email and name, there is a little check box that says notify me of new posts by email. Check that while posting another comment, and you should be good to go! Thanks again for stopping by. 🙂
